The essence of Berimbau
Our bond with families
We see parenting as a shared journey, where our role as companions embraces both the children and their families. We build a bond of trust, listening and mutual support. We know that, to care for a child, it is essential to welcome and respect their family environment.
Our pedagogical pillars
-
Aucouturier psychomotricity
We see the body as children’s emotional language. We offer a safe environment and activities that encourage spontaneity, supporting the physical and cognitive development of every child.
-
Free play
We observe free play to get to know each child and closely follow their growth. We don’t direct their activity, so that ideas can arise from the children themselves. Although we may suggest activities or set limits, we prioritise letting them choose freely, out of respect for their genuine needs.
-
Emotional support
We support conflicts and emotions with empathy and trust in children’s abilities. We step in from a place of availability, to protect their autonomy and their physical and emotional safety. We avoid doing for a child what they can do alone, and we tell them out loud about any action that affects them.
-
Self-regulation and autonomy
We support each child’s daily self-regulation, such as eating, sleeping, playing and emotions, based on limits that ensure everyone’s wellbeing. Our priority is that they connect with their own needs and gain autonomy through respectful and mindful intervention.
-
Musical sensitivity
We weave music into everyday life as a living, familiar language. Through voice, singing with the guitar, exploring instruments and body movement, we offer a space rich in sound where every child can experiment and express themselves freely.
-
Connection with nature
Nature inspires our daily life and beats through our songs, rituals, stories and the look and feel of the space. We prioritise natural, recycled and open-ended materials that invite imagination and discovery through the senses.
